The Wheels On The Bus Sing-Along Travel Kit Giveaway

Is that just the greatest? A charming animation of a favorite children’s song. Scholastic’s new Sing-Along Travel Kit features The Wheels On The Bus but that’s not all: it’s got 15 stories on two DVDs, 13 songs on CD, and activity booklet – with crayons – and a travel tips booklet for parents. I’m actually sad that my kids are too old for this kit, because I know when they were younger they would have enjoyed watching, listening and singing along.

I’m going to tell you a secret too: the list of stories on the DVD includes Giles Andreae’s Giraffe’s Can’t Dance. I love kids books and I’m a fan of many authors and animators but Gerald the Giraffe will always be one of my very favorites. It’s such a great story told in Andreae’s comical rhyming style. There’s plenty of other great stories on this DVD, but this one is my top pick of the selection.

Biographies For Kids Giveaway

napoleon-wicked-history

julius-cesear-wicked-history Thanks to the friendly people at Scholastic, I can follow up BigB’s reviews of the Wicked History biographies of Francisco Pizarro, Cixi, Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great with a giveaway. Yay!

Scholastic has kindly donated the latest titles in this fun series for independent readers: Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Otto Von Bismark and Alexander the Great. If you’re planning a trip to Italy, France or Germany, these will be a great way to help your child learn about the history of the country before you travel. If you don’t have plans to go anywhere, don’t despair, a good book is always a great vehicle for some excellent armchair family travel.
