I’m not a fan of locals anywhere posing in “traditional” costume waiting to charge tourists for taking a photo, but when it results in a photo like this, well, maybe I don’t mind so much.

I admit that I’d made a mental note of the Ninos Hotel when I first started researching somewhere to stay in Cusco months ago. Of course I’d also noticed that at $25 per-person-per-night, it was over our budget (we try to stick to $12-$15) but the story of this hotel, founded by a Dutch woman with a passion for helping educate street children in Cusco struck a chord with me.
Cusco is a destination for travelers of all types, ages and nationalities and deservedly so. As the “navel of the world”, the capital of the Incan Empire which stretched from Ecuador to Chile it is a beautiful city.
