Happy New Year 2009 from Whistler

Happy New Year, Wandermom readers!

For this Photo Friday post, I’m sharing photos taken just today at Whistler, B.C. Enjoy!

I’m a little tickled as I show these snow-laden photos since Debbie’s own Photo Friday post today is all about warm weather. Two Seattlites, both moms, two totally different holiday trips. I’m also looking forward to see what travel and/or holiday photos other Photo Friday regulars share for this first weekly round-up of 2009.

About wandermom

". . .life is short and the world is wide" - Simon Raven I'm not sure I've ever consciously planned a trip based on this sentiment, but it definitely influences my subconscious! I've been traveling as frequently and widely as possible since I finished school. And I love it. I love the research, the planning, the fervent packing and the curiosity of exploring somewhere I've never been before. My husband & I are both Irish - as in born-in-Ireland. But we live in Seattle. We have two boys: wild, boisterous, regular boys. So, since becoming a Mom, I've been a WanderMom. Given our slightly-unusual family situation, routine "visits-to-Grandma" are international trips requiring passports, 10hr-flights and (oh joy!) airport transfers. I have rants, raves and opinions about how, where & why to travel with kids (start them as young as you can, I say!). I hope to learn even more by researching topics which other wandermoms may be interested in reading about on this blog. Passports, pacifiers, diapers and gameboys at the ready - off we go! I am having cold flashbacks. So are the great deals everyone is predicting? Are the slopes less crowded? I want to go this year.
    Have a great time!

I, on the other hand, am quite jealous of the snow you’re all enjoying! It’s quite brown here in Detroit this time of year, and I’m just itching to be able to go out cross country skiing…

Looks like you had a great time on your ski trip.

Hi everyone – yes, we had a great time in Whistler – just back in Seattle today. I’ll be checking out your Photo Friday posts this evening :)
@Meg, yes, there are good deals to be had. We used Priceline.com to book our hotel and got a 4-star room just steps from the gondolas for < 50% of the published room rate. Also, the slopes are definitely less crowded than this same time last year. I’ll be adding some posts this week on the trip overall, so you can watch out for those.
