Inspiration for where to travel with children

Barbados is an island paradise that often attracts couples looking for a getaway. But there are plenty of activities suited for families with children that will make your holiday filled with fun.

Take the kids on an exciting underground adventure at Harrison’s Cave. This beautiful limestone cavern is a cool place to visit on a hot day. Rushing crystal streams and calming pools can be seen all around you while you venture through the cave. The stalactite and stalagmite formations are a wonder to behold. Learn the history of the cave and how it was first discovered.

For some animal fun, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve is the perfect spot for a family outing. Walk around the reserve at your leisure, and see the animals in their own environment. The Barbados green monkeys are a popular attraction here, and are abundant throughout the reserve. You can also view armadillo, deer, a variety of snakes, and some colourful birds. Parrots, peacocks and flamingos proudly stroll around for your entertainment. This is an awesome place for the kids to see some of the native animals to Barbados.

There are several ways to enter the underwater world of Barbados. Atlantis Submarines will take you deep under the surface of the water in a submarine. This experience alone is enough to excite most children. On your journey you will see a shipwreck, some beautiful coral formations, and of course plenty of fish. If you choose to get a more up close and personal underwater experience, then check out Snuba. This is great for kids, and an excellent opportunity for those who do not like diving to get the same kind of experience. Snuba brings you down 20-feet below the surface, but without all the extra weight and hassle of a tank. You are attached by airline to the surface so you can move around much more freely.

For a great dinner show that provides fun family time in Barbados, check out the Plantation Theatre. See West Indian Culture at its finest with a magnificent, colourful show. Fire eaters, tumblers, and stilt walkers are just a few of the amazing skills presented to you throughout the show. Exciting dancers and music will ensure that you all have a wonderful time.

Barbados is also scattered with plenty of beaches where the aquamarine waters and white sands invite you to relax. The waters are mainly calm and shallow making super play spots for the kids. Playgrounds are easy to find, so your kids can let out all that energy. Plenty of the resorts have special kids activities and clubs so your children will never get bored.

Barbados is a truly magical place to visit for the whole family.
