I got a huge kick out of the comments readers left when I posted a photo of the WanderDad with a huge snake – taken in Zambia in 1969. On reading these, WanderDad suggested that I follow up with my photos of the next generation of our family with a python – taken at a petting zoo outside Algoz in Portugal.
As I mentioned last week, Spring Break is a great time for low fares to Europe and The Algarve, on the south coast of Portugal is quite beautiful at that time of year.

Funny how every time I’m with my son or my students, I have to pretend I’m all into touching the snake, or giant cockroach…I put my foot down at tarantula though.
Cool photo, the kids look so into it.

Wow! That’s some snake! And that’s what zoos are all about… that up-close interaction with the natural world. I am sure your kids loved it! 😉

I can remember being fascinated with snakes as a child – but now that fascination is gone & I’m with Carolina. I have to force myself to act interested instead of squeamish each time we go to see the “reptile man” in Seattle or a snake exhibit in a zoo.
