And We’re Off!

SeaTac-RTW-Departure

It’s been a crazy few weeks de-cluttering and packing up our house but we made it: house cleared, storage unit locked and bags packed just in time for our flight to Miami and on to Quito. Let the fun begin!

(If you’re concerned that BigB looks decidedly unhappy in that photo, don’t worry. He is still worried about how our year is going to work out, but only when he remembers to be worried – the rest of the time he’s fine.)

Head on over to DeliciousBaby.com for more Photo Friday fun.

About wandermom

". . .life is short and the world is wide" - Simon Raven I'm not sure I've ever consciously planned a trip based on this sentiment, but it definitely influences my subconscious! I've been traveling as frequently and widely as possible since I finished school. And I love it. I love the research, the planning, the fervent packing and the curiosity of exploring somewhere I've never been before. My husband & I are both Irish - as in born-in-Ireland. But we live in Seattle. We have two boys: wild, boisterous, regular boys. So, since becoming a Mom, I've been a WanderMom. Given our slightly-unusual family situation, routine "visits-to-Grandma" are international trips requiring passports, 10hr-flights and (oh joy!) airport transfers. I have rants, raves and opinions about how, where & why to travel with kids (start them as young as you can, I say!). I hope to learn even more by researching topics which other wandermoms may be interested in reading about on this blog. Passports, pacifiers, diapers and gameboys at the ready - off we go! How exciting! It’s really happening :).

Your photo reminds me of a “before” picture that we took: It’s at the bottom of our packing post. Looks like you’ve done a good job packling light.

    Best of luck!

Lorna, Amy, J, Marina + Meg: Thanks for the good wishes folks. I’ll be doing my best to write a long post at least weekly + photos a couple of times a week.

    Bernice: Stories coming :)

Gray: Where d’you think we got some of our better packing tips? Your logistics info was a great resource.
